Location Proposal, Ema Milano – The Pirelli Building rises over Piazza Duca d’Aosta, the square in front of Milan’s central train station. A major historic landmark in Milan, it is an expression of the city’s dynamism and the region’s robust manufacturing industry and is symbolic of the first wave of internationalisation to sweep through the Italian economy. The building is an imposing architectural work that stands 127 metres tall, an expression of lightness and rationality in glass, aluminium and steel. Originally built for the Pirelli tyre company, in 1978 it became prestigious office space for the Lombardy Region.
In order to streamline the EMA’s relocation process to Milan, Infrastrutture Lombarde S.p.a., the in-house engineering company of the Lombardy Region, will be responsible for the adaptation of the building to EMA’s specific needs and for the supply of the fittings and furnishings.
